Dr. Caroline Mercier has taught, designed and exhibited her work for more than 15 years.  She started in fashion design, opening a successful boutique in Montreal,  and then quickly moving on to theatre where she worked across all live and recorded media such as performance, circus, opera, music concerts, television and cinema. Originally from Quebec, she has collaborated on the original production of ‘Les Miserables’, worked at Le cirque du Soleil, Theatre Omnibus, Robert Lepage, and McGill Opera. She has also dressed many famous personalities through the years such as Carol Channing, Rosanne Barr, Dennis Leary and Drew Carey. She has been nominated for “best costume designer” award at the AQT, and has been awarded several important excellence and research grants. She has worked on 3 continents, and has been a visiting artist in Ireland, England, France, Canada, USA and Thailand.

She is now a tenured professor for California State University Stanislaus after being faculty at Cal State Los Angeles last year in Fashion and Fine Arts. She is also the Vice-Chair of Design for KC ACTF sponsored by the Kennedy Center, an active member of USITT, APASQ, World Body Painting Association and Round Table Consultants. Lately she was contacted as an expert collaborator on a legal case for the firm of Victoria Secret. Her work will soon be featured in a new book entitled “Soie Soyeuse”, based on her 2008 Paris solo exhibit and installation.
