Dieser Bereich ist Mitgliedern gewidmet, die selber über Neuigkeiten und interessantes aus dem Bodypainting Bereich schreiben wollen.
Du kannst über eine Veranstaltung oder einen Wettbewerb schreiben, den Du selber besucht hast. Vielleicht hast du auch eine neue Ausstellung besucht. Du kannst über ein tolles neues Body- bzw. Facepainting produkt schreiben oder vielleicht willst du ein deine Reiseerfahrungen zu bestimmten Plätzen mit uns teilen, die mit der Körperkunst zusammen hängen.

Schreibe uns einfach ein paar Absätze und e-maile uns ein paar Fotos dazuund wir stellen es hier online. Dieser Bereich hier soll ein Platz sein um andere Mitglieder an deinen Gedanken teilhaben zu lassen.

Du kannst die Texte in deiner Muttersprache halten. Wenn es in englisch gehalten wäre, könnten noch mehrere Leute daran teilhaben.

Das "Bühnenbild" zu dieser Performance hatte ich schon lange im Kopf. Es Es sollte eine Metapher werden, die Betroffen macht und die auf das Leid der Meerestiere die Elendig in den Netzen verenden aufmerksam machen soll. Sie sollte Bildhaft erklären, das wir letzten Endes in unseren eigenen Netzen zugrunde gehen weil wir uns selbst diese Nahrungsquelle entziehen und das Ökologische Gleichgewicht unseres Planeten vollkommen zerstören. Ich bin mit dieser Idee im Mai 2008 an mehrere Umwelt und Tierschutz Organisationen herangetreten um dort nachzufragen ob ein Bedarf für diese Art der Darstellung besteht. Einzig der WWF Deutschland zeigte Interesse und wollte das für Ihre Beifang Kampagne nutzen. Mir persönlich kam das sehr entgegen da ich die Aktionen des WWF sehr Schätze. Sie suchen dort immer nach Lösungen die für alle zufriedenstellend sind. Meine Ursprüngliche Idee so etwas im offenen Meer durchzuführen wurde schnell verworfen. Obwohl sich dankender Weise sehr viele Prominente Modelle, Filmemacher und auch Fotografen bereit erklärt hatten bei solch einer Aktion mitzumachen. Die Kosten waren einfach zu hoch und in der kürze der Zeit Sponsoren zu finden wäre sehr schwierig gewesen. So wurde die Aktion für ein Schwimmbad geplant. Wichtig war es dem WWF ein Bad zu finden bei dem die Presse die Aktionen sofort Fotografieren und Filmen konnten. Nach umfangreichen Recherchen fanden wir dann das Stadtbad in Berlin Schöneberg. Hier gibt es ein Großes Unterwasserfenster durch das die Medienleute alles betrachten konnten. Nun war es an mir in diesem Becken eine Meeresähnliche Atmosphäre zu schaffen. Dieses habe ich dann umgesetzt indem ich das Becken in einen surrealen Ozean verwandelte. Ich wollte eine bedrohliche Unterwasser Netzwelt in einem düster wirkenden Ozean schaffen. Die Auswahl der Materialien war schwierig . Als schwarze Verkleidung des Beckens wurden 300 m² Teichfolie genommen.

Die war schön Schwer und legte sich von selbst auf den Beckengrund. Dann war da die Auswahl des Netzes. Das war das schwierigste. Es sollte die Darsteller nicht zu stark gefährden. Außerdem nicht zu viel von der Malerei abdecken. Auch Farblich musste es in die Situation passen. Es wurden schließlich 100 m Netz in das Becken gehangen. Das wichtigste war dann das nichts passierte. In Berlin wurde dann erst mal ein kleiner Probe Set aufgebaut und die Apnoe Taucherin Anna von Boetticher ist dort das erste mal in das Netz geschwommen. Immer unter Beobachtung eines Rescuetauchers. Bei der Aktion in Berlin waren es dann 7 Sicherungstaucher die im Notfall hätten eingreifen können.
Die Künstler standen unter großem Stress. Sie hatten, weil das Schwimmbad erst um 5:45 Uhr für uns öffnete für ihre Paintings nur ein paar Stunden Zeit. Um die Entwürfe wurde lange diskutiert. Meine Ursprüngliche Idee die Darstellung von sich gerade in der Verwandlung befindlicher Menschen, also halb bekleidet wurde bald verworfen. Die Vorstellung von WWF, den Künstlern und mir gingen anfangs sehr auseinander. Niemand hatte so richtig Erfahrung mit so einer Umfangreichen Unterwasser Produktion. Aber letztendlich diktierte uns nur das realistisch machbare die Richtung. Es war Schwierig zum Beispiel um die normalen Bleigürtel der Taucher zu kaschieren. Die taten aber dann das Blei in Fahrradschläuche und wickelten diese um die Hüften. Das Problem ist dann wunderbar von den Künstlern übermalt worden.

Die Stadtwerke Berlin als Betreiber des Bades waren sehr argwöhnisch und um die Qualität ihres Badewassers besorgt. Wie ein Damokles Schwert hing die Angst in der Luft es könne bei der Aktion das Wasser verfärben und wir mit einer Gewaltigen Zahlung wegen der Neubefüllung rechnen müssten. Aber Dank der Erfahrung aus vergangenen Unterwasser Shootings und den hervorragenden Produkten der Firma Kryolan passierte nichts. Eine anschließende Wasseranalyse ergab keinerlei Verunreinigungen. Ich möchte noch Erwähnen das Kryolan außer der logistischen Hilfe auch noch finanziell diese Aktion des WWF Deutschland unterstützte. Dafür noch einmal ein Dankeschön. Die Taucher waren etwa 2 Stunden durchgängig im Wasser und schwammen dabei unablässig in das Netz. Trotzdem hielten die Farben ausgesprochen gut.
Trotz großem Stress gab ein gutes Gefühl nach dem erfolgreichen Abschluss und der Großen Resonanz aus den Medien. Es fanden sich Hochleistungssportler , Künstler und Umweltaktivisten zusammen um gemeinsam auf diesen Wahnsinn in unseren Meeren aufmerksam zu machen. Für mich und die Idee von Aqua Revival war es ein Meilenstein der Erfahrung und es macht Mut zu mehr. Sehr reizvoll wäre zb. eine Theaterperformance etwa bei „Rheingold“.

Filippo: "Now, I am not political and I'm against WAR but after meeting and seeing many young beautiful courageous men and women that have come back from combat disfigured, missing limbs, burned or mentally disabled from the things they have endured. This project has become dear to my heart !! I often wonder if these young men and women knew what they were getting into. Anyways you will never see these men and women or hear their stories on CNN or any other news program because there would be a tremendous uproar. Government is either overwhelmed or does not have the founds or resources to help these individuals and their families out. So it is organizations like Operation Calendar and so many others that try to make life a little easier for these individuals. I am honored to be a part of this effort !!"

Bodypainting Fantasies

Body Painting a Hawaiian Mythology by Raquel Deboer
Living in Hawaii gives me a unique chance to explore a culture that is very old and has an incredibly diverse and enormous mythological history to bathe in. I live on the island of Maui which in itself is famous for many Hawaiian gods and goddesses. I decided after 8 years of living here to deeply research Hawaiian mythology and more specifically the famous tiki statues that have been carved for hundreds of years here in Hawaii and all throughout Polynesia. Tikis became a pop culture sensation in the 20th century however their ancient history is very intricate and linked to the divine. First a brief explanation of Hawaiian worldview and the function of tikis before I explain my recent body painting projects: Hawaii’s spiritual worldview before the Europeans came and eventually conquered the land and religion was animistic. Animism refers to an inner life in all things animate and inanimate. Nothing was inanimate to the Hawaiians. They believed in “mana” or the essence of life that inhabited all things. There was mana in the wind, the clouds, the trees, the ocean, the rocks and so on and so forth. Animals were guardians called “Aumakua”. Pele is the goddess of the volcano energy that brought forth the very Hawaiian islands. There is an enormous pantheon of gods and goddesses, demi-gods, and kupuas (supernatural beings) that exist in the Hawaiian spiritual mythology. Once such figure is the carved tiki. Tiki was the first man in some Polynesian traditions and the carving of this divine being is a sacred act. Only the best woods would be used. Prayer and chants accomplished everyday actions of the ancient Hawaiians. The tiki that was carved would store up these prayers and chants and act as a protector or fierce guardian of the ali’is or chiefs of the Hawaiian people. There were many different tikis of various gods but the main four gods in the Hawaiian culture are Kane, Ku, Kanaloa, and Lono.
Kane is the ultimate creator of life and represents the sun and procreation. Hawaiians believed in dualism and polarity so where there is light and life there must be darkness and death. Kanaloa is the opposite of Kane. He is the god of the sea, death, and the underworld. Then came Ku, the most aggressive of all the gods. He is the god of war and sacrifices of many kinds were made to him. Last of the major tiki gods was Lono. Lono is the god of peace, the harvest, and of athletic games. Storms and clouds are associated with this god’s coming. The people were not allowed to work during worship of Lono and his presence served as a break from the strict “kapu” or rules the Hawaiians lived by.
Currently I am attempting to body paint the four major gods of Hawaii represented in tiki form as well as eventually paint all the major gods, goddesses, aumakua, and other supernatural beings that exist here in Hawaii. Mythology is an endless supply of magic and mystery, inspiration and imagination. What better way to show the magic of mythology than in black light. The following pictures are my black light representations of Ku, the God of War, a menehune being (the mythical little people of Hawaii), and the Lono, the tiki god of peace. Swiss Bodypainting Day, 13. September 2009, Luzern
Am 13. September organisierte Marcel Krauer mit seinem Team den Swiss Bodypainting Day. Viele Künstler darunter aus Österreich, Deutschland, Italien, England, Israel und natürlich der Schweiz kamen zu dem sehr familiär organisierten Treff. Der Bodypainting Wettbewerb wurde im Verkehrshaus abgehalten. Passend zur Location haben die Organisatoren den Titel "Transit" vorgegeben. Nach über 6 Stunden war es soweit und die 15 Künstler präsentierten sich dem Publikum. Die 3 Erstplatzierten waren: 1. Bella Volen 2. Herbie Betrschart 3. Melanie Rodel Publikumspreis: Olaf Hauk Es war ein toller Event, wo sich viele bekannte Bodypainter getroffen und miteinander viel unternommen haben. Die meisten waren auch Mitglied in der WBPA. Marcel hat am Tag davor eine tolle Feier bei sich im Garten organisiert wo es jede Menge zu Diskutieren, Lachen und Trinken gab. Wir freuen uns schon jetzt auf das nächste Jahr. (Alex Barendregt)

Body-Painted Fashion Show Launches 'Knightsbridge' on Singapore's Orchard Road

*Flagship retail concept at 5-star Grand Park Orchard attracting designer icons* Singapore’s first ever catwalk fashion show featuring full body-painted models launched 'Knightsbridge', a chic and exclusive new luxury shopping destination on Singapore's world famous Orchard Road. The magical spectacle at The White Rabbit underlined the "unique style" of the new four-storey, 83,000 sq ft retail concept at 270 Orchard Road. Themed 'Aristocratic Chic', the fashion trade extravaganza showcased a diverse range of body paintwork, taking in British fashion influences from 'country tweed' and classic English gentleman style to 'swinging soiree and cabaret' style. Show designers Runway Concepts embellished the body-painted models with crystals, mirrors and other 3D accessories complete with super-sized hairpieces to create a vivid impact. The show was attended by the creme-de-la-creme of Singapore's fashion business as well as the retail industry’s top honchos. Inspired by the prominent district of London, Park Hotel Group aims to recreate that same air of exclusivity at Knightsbridge in the upcoming flagship property, Grand Park Orchard.

Bodypainting for a TV Show in Japan, with Filippo Ioco

While I was at the World Bodypainting Festival in Seeboden, AUSTRIA, I was hired to do a Body Painting job for a TV show in Tokyo, Japan called Unbelievable. I left for Japan from Seeboden to Germany to China to Japan. I could not tell you how long it was because I slept the whole way. but I'm sure it was long. I did the job, it came out awesome. I painted 4 models and a famous japanese comedian into the surrounding landscape of Fuji Networks. With a live feed running into the studio audience, they had to find and pick out the models, every one was very happy with the results. I was just tired and delirious. The rest of my time there was spent site seeing and going to various meetings. Tokyo is amazingly clean and spotless for all the people it has, the whole time I was wondering why can't the rest of the world be like this. They recycle every thing !! The out door garbage bins are set up as glass, plastic, metal, burnable and non burnable they even have a section for cigarette buts !! The food is great !! from low end to high end restaurants they all prepare the food to look like art, so if your starving you should eat at home before you go out to eat.. The people are very nice and courteous.
The sky line is magnificent with about 19 independent subway lines that are privately and government owned running all over the place. Lot's of interesting fashion and hair dues for both men and women and lot's of shopping malls and boutiques all over the city. I was told by every one to go visit Kyoto and the Geisha Women, but I was not there long enough to do so. The next time I go back I will.

Bodypainting Competition in Melbourne

10 Künstler nahmen am Bodypainting Wettbewerb in Melbourne teil, der von Ria Clauss organisiert wurde. Die Jury tat sich hierbei sehr schwer, da fast 10 annähernd gleich gute Künstler das erste Mal an diesem Wettbewerb teilnahmen. Der 1. Preis wurde von Kryolan Australien gesponsert.

Die Bestplatzierten:
1. Platz: Puss In Boots by Gina Nomachi.
2. Platz: Laurie Faulkner
3. Platz: Elana Leiu

Casino Seefeld Award 09
WBPA Mitglied Bernhard Witsch aus Tirol hatte vom 26. - 28. März in Seefeld den Casino Seefeld Bodypainting Award organisiert. Die Veranstaltung wurde in den Räumlichkeiten des Casoni Austria mit einem Bodypainting Wettbewerb über 3 Tage organisiert. 10 Künstler wurden dazu speziell eingeladen.
Am ersten Tag wurde den Teilnehmer spontan eines von 10 Logos zugelost. Die Teilnehmer mussten dann am Logowettbewerb ihr Können unter beweis stellen und den Körper mit der Idee zum Thema der jeweiligen Firma umsetzen. Magdalena Pock hatte mit einem sehr starken Design eine Installationsfirma in Szene gesetzt.
Der 2. Tag galt dem Thema "Casinos". Die Künstler liesen sich vom Ambiente inspiriren, einige Künstler haben aber auch kontroversielle Ansichten thematisch am Körper umgesetzt.
Am 3. und letzten Tag war ein freies Thema angesagt und die Künstler waren dafür besonders gut vorbereitet. Die Punkte aller 3 Tage wurden zusammen gezählt und am Ende addiert. Das Ergebnis: 1. Platz: Einat Dan / Israel 2. Platz: Bella Volen / Bulgarien 3. Platz Karala Barendregt / Australien

Die Veranstaltung war sehr schön organisiert und am Ende konnten die Teilnehmer mit vielen Special Guests wie Fredi Schmid, Marcel Krauer, Birgit Mörtl, Alex Barendregt und weiteren bis in den Morgengrauen feiern. Vielen Dank dem Organisationsteam um Bernhard mit seiner tollen Mannschaft.

Einat Dan at the Fancy Face Make up Company in Taiwan

The fancy face make up company and school of make, invited me to Taiwan the second time to be a judge in makeup/body painting contest and to a make fashion and body painting workshop.
The main artist and the owner of the school, is Francy which is famous make
up artist in Taiwan he has his own products of make up under the name
"fancy face" he has a partner name Timothy that spend the most of the time
with me and made me feel comfortable.

The contest:
the artists came from all over Taiwan, the contest was for professionals
and semi professionals, but the category are different then what we know but
i like this idea.
- bride makeup +hair styling
-stage make up & costume design & hair
- bodypainting
The contest was in Taichung, hot weather and the artists worked out side.

The artist start to work at noon time and finish at 18:00. At 18:30 we start to judge In the jury were the best make up artist in Taiwan, very famous hair designer , and the had of make up from "Fancy
face" company, mister Francy him self.
There were not so many artist in each category and it's pity , i hope next year
will be much more .
After judging the show start on stage , the show was impressive , the
stage was on a river in the middle of beautiful park , the event was well
organized , big screen & great light .
After my speech on stage, we gave the trophy and the prices to 5 winners
each category , so more artist are happy .

2 days after i gave my workshop in stage make up / high fashion and body
painting, i use fancy face products , the quality of the product , very
good specially the eye shadows and body painting .
Tthe artist were so polite and very humbles, it was great to see that. I had so much fun and enjoyed every moment.

i must say that I'm traveling , doing workshop all over the world , in every
country every one so nice to me and treat me well but the way the Taiwanese
people treat me i will remember for ever , so much respect , they took care
of me like I'm a queen and I'm just a simple person ,
they are really great host.
Ii would like to thank every one from fancy face, thanks to Francy and
specially to Timothy and his beautiful son Sean .

Rai Claus from Australia working in Finland

Hello everyone. After attending Seeboden last summer I went up to London to visit my kids, as I always do, but this time I received an all expenses paid trip to Finland to do demonstrations and lectures on Face and Body Painting, at their Secondary School and College in Ulvila. I also did a workshop at the local theatre. It was a great experience for me as I probably wouldn't have seen Finland otherwise. I had a wonderful time and was given a book on Finland signed by the Minister of Tourism, the Curator of the Museum and the Theatre manager. There was also an article about me on the front page of their local newspaper. I also had the pleasure of painting a pregnant lady whos Bub kept kicking when I touched a certain spot on her tummy it was so beautiful!

People in Finland were so excited about this new body art medium. I have just sent them two torsos I have painted to put in their exhibition in the museum, which is about art on the skin. They also have some pictures of mine to exhibit as well. It was quite an honour for me coming from Australia, as we are so far away from everyone.

10 Jahres Jubiläum im HR Giger Museum in der Schweiz.
Eine ganz besondere Bodypainting Aktion von Marco Licata und Fausto Zucchi

It was the 10th year anniversary of the world famous HR Giger Museum in St. Germain, Switzerland. The 2 members Fausto Zucchi and Marco Licata were invited by the museum to paint a Giger design into a living sculpture.

The event in the Giger meuseum was held over a whole day with live DJ's as entertainment plus a tattoo artist tattooing a Giger artwork for the visitors to watch. Of course the two bodypainters were also present painting a Giger artwork onto a live model in theme.

A highlight to the event was the presence of Giger himself at the museum signing books and meeting his fans. Fausto and Marco were greatly honored when Giger approached them while they were painting to compliment them on their artwork.

Es war das 10 Jahres Jubiläum des weltberühmten HR Giger Museum in St. Germain in der Schweiz. Die beiden WBPA Mitglider Fausto Zucchi und Marco Licata wurden eingeladen, um ein Model im Gigerstil zu vollenden.

Das Museum war den ganzen Tag frei zugänglich mit DJ's und Unterhaltung, Tätowierer die Giger Motive umsetzten und natürlich die beiden Bodypainting Künstler.

Das Highlight des Jubiläums war natürlich die Anwesenheit von Giger selbst, der den Besuchern Bücher signierte. Eine tolle Erfahrung für Marco und Fausto, die besondere Komplimente von Herrn Giger selbst für ihre Arbeit erhielten.
